Referee signals

Referees use whistle, cards, arm gestures, and body direction to show decisions so players and spectators understand restarts.

A sharp whistle usually stops play for a foul, offside, or serious incident. The referee then points with the arm to show which team gets the free kick or indicates advantage by allowing play to continue with a verbal or gesture signal.

After a foul, the referee blows, runs to the spot, and points toward Team A's attacking direction with a straight arm—that means a direct free kick to Team A.
