Added time (stoppage time)

Added time compensates for stoppages during each half—injuries, substitutions, delays—so both teams play a fair amount of active time.

The referee estimates time lost in the half and announces added minutes near the end, often shown on the fourth official's board. Play continues until the referee blows for the end of the half, not when a stadium clock hits a round number.

In a half with two injury treatments and several substitutions, the board shows +4 at the end of the second half. Team A scores in the third minute of added time; the goal counts if play had not been stopped.
