How football competitions work

Football competitions organise clubs into seasons or tournaments with shared rules: who plays whom, how often, and what outcome qualifies for the next stage. Formats mix round-robin leagues, group stages, and single-elimination knockouts. Barxad leagues and standings reflect those structures so you can follow the right table for each competition.

In a classic league, every team plays every other team home and away (or once in smaller leagues). Points accumulate over all fixtures; the highest total wins the title, and the lowest may be relegated if the pyramid allows.

Cup ties eliminate the loser, often after one match or a home-and-away aggregate. Level scores may go to extra time and penalties depending on the round and competition rules.
